Open Manusights in ChatGPTBring your reference list
Paste your whole reference list, including any citations ChatGPT suggested, or use references already in your conversation.
Or start with the public example ↓Ask Manusights to check them
Name Manusights in your message, or type @Manusights. Without the name, ChatGPT may check a short list with its own web search instead.
Try it with public references
A DOI can open.
Is it the right paper?
No file needed. Copy this complete example into a ChatGPT conversation with Manusights enabled. It pairs one matching citation with a deliberate DOI mismatch.
Compare both linked records. The second DOI belongs to a different paper; confirm any suggested correction with the publisher before changing a citation.
Use Manusights to check these two public citations. The second deliberately has the wrong DOI. Show the external record and any possible correction for me to confirm. 1. Jumper et al. Highly accurate protein structure prediction with AlphaFold. Nature. 2021. doi:10.1038/s41586-021-03819-2 2. Polack et al. Safety and Efficacy of the BNT162b2 mRNA Covid-19 Vaccine. Read the result with context
Know what the result means
- Matching record
- The citation corresponds to an external record. Read the paper to decide whether it supports your claim.
- Mismatched details
- Compare the title, authors, year and DOI with the linked record before correcting the reference.
- Retraction notice
- Open the notice and read its context before deciding how to use or discuss the paper.
- Unresolved or unchecked
- Check the original source yourself. An unresolved result is not proof that a paper was invented.
What your Manusights account adds
In ChatGPT, Manusights uses the account you connect during setup. With it you can check references, look up journal AI-use policies and start a manuscript preview: a readiness score, a verdict and the main risks a reviewer may raise.
A Full Review is a detailed report on one manuscript, ordered on manusights.com. Once a Full Review is on your account, you can read and download it in ChatGPT.
A few useful details
What if setup or a check fails?
If ChatGPT asks you to reconnect, reconnect Manusights in ChatGPT and ask again.
If setup or a check still fails, retry once and note the step that failed. Email erik@manusights.com with a public example. You can also try the website reference checker.
What if my workspace restricts plugins?
Ask your administrator about access. In ChatGPT Edu and Enterprise workspaces, new apps are off until an admin turns them on: in the Admin Console, open Plugins, find Manusights and choose Available for installation or Installed for workspace. Access can be limited to chosen roles.
Admins can also choose which actions are on. check_references and get_journal_ai_policy only read. review_manuscript starts a preview from a manuscript a member attaches, and can stay off until the institution has reviewed Manusights as a vendor; our answers for that review are in the institutional review brief.
If Manusights does not appear in the workspace plugin list, an admin can add https://manusights.com/mcp as a custom app (Plugins, then +, then Add custom MCP server) and publish it to chosen groups. ChatGPT keeps a snapshot of an approved app’s tools; refresh it in the Admin Console after we announce a change.
