    "method": "A row is included only when the journal, its publisher or society, or a peer-reviewed study of that journal published a desk-rejection rate, and we read that figure on the source itself on the verified_on date. The rate is the share of submissions rejected by editors before external peer review. Where the source gives counts, we divide them and say so in derivation; where it gives only the share sent for review, the rate is 100% minus that share. Each row records the source's own term, the denominator, and the period. Estimates, journal-finder sites, blogs, SciRev, BioxBio and secondary summaries are excluded.",
