Manusights in Claude

Check the references in your conversation.

Ask Claude to check a reference list against Crossref and Retraction Watch, look up a journal’s AI-use policy at its source, or preview a manuscript before you submit it.

Get started

  1. 1. Add Manusights to Claude

    In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors. If Manusights is listed in the connector directory, choose it there. Otherwise choose Add custom connector, name it Manusights and enter this URL:

    https://manusights.com/mcp

    On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may need to add the connector first.

    In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http manusights https://manusights.com/mcp, then use /mcp to sign in when you need a preview.

  2. 2. Ask Claude to use Manusights

    Name Manusights in your message. Reference checks and journal policy lookups work without a Manusights account. Claude asks you to approve each tool call, and you can choose to approve a tool for every call.

  3. 3. Sign in for manuscript previews

    A preview needs a free Manusights account. When Claude shows Connect, sign in on the Manusights page that opens, with Google, an emailed code or your password, and approve the connection. Claude sends the manuscript’s text, so figures are not reviewed in this mode. A preview takes a few minutes; Claude checks its status until it is ready.

What each tool does

check_references no account needed
Looks up each reference as written in Crossref, the DOI registry and Retraction Watch, and, for references without a DOI, in Semantic Scholar, PubMed, arXiv, Open Library (books) and CRAN (R packages). Each reference gets a status, such as resolves, not found, retracted or correction issued, with the source and any notice date.
get_journal_ai_policy no account needed
Returns a journal’s or publisher’s recorded AI-use rules, with the official policy link and the date Manusights checked it.
review_manuscript_text needs a Manusights account
Starts a pre-submission preview from your manuscript’s text: a readiness score for your target journal, the main risks a reviewer may raise, and the manuscript’s strengths. Figures are not reviewed in this mode.
get_manuscript_review needs a Manusights account
Reads one of your reviews: the preview, and the Full Review if your account has one.
list_manuscript_reviews needs a Manusights account
Lists your 20 most recent reviews.

Manusights does not write or edit manuscripts, and no result says whether a reference supports the claim it is cited for.

Each account can start a limited number of previews a day from connected apps, and journal policy lookups cover the journals and publishers Manusights tracks.

Know what the result means

Resolves
The citation corresponds to an external record. Read the paper to decide whether it supports your claim.
Mismatched details
Compare the title, authors, year and DOI with the linked record before correcting the reference.
Retracted or corrected
Open the notice and read its context before deciding how to use or discuss the paper.
Not found or unchecked
Check the original source yourself. A reference no source holds is not proof that a paper was invented.

What Manusights receives

Only what a tool sends: the references you ask Claude to check, a journal name, or your manuscript’s text for a preview. Previews are saved to your account. Your Claude conversations, memory and other files stay with Claude.

To remove access, disconnect Manusights in Claude’s connector settings, or in the connected apps section of your Manusights account. Details are in our privacy policy.
