Provenance and credits

Manusights integrates the evidence. It does not own the underlying records.

The Reference Checker combines independent scholarly infrastructure into one bibliography workflow. This page separates the work performed by each provider from the parsing, matching, classification, and interface work performed by Manusights.

Open scholarly metadata and post-publication relationships

Crossref metadata reflects deposits from members and trusted sources. Missing or incomplete metadata is a coverage condition, not proof about the underlying work.

Curated retractions and selected related notices

Retraction Watch describes its retraction coverage as comprehensive, while expressions of concern and corrections are not comprehensive. The tool preserves that distinction.

DOI Foundation

DOI resolution and registration-agency lookup

The registration-agency service answers whether a DOI belongs to an agency. It does not supply the paper-level metadata needed for all other checks.

Retraction Watch Hijacked Journal Checker

Published evidence of journal-clone domains

A clone-domain match is a warning about the cited web location. It is not a finding about every article carrying the legitimate journal name or ISSN.

Citation and reuse

Cite the checker only for the work it performed.

If you describe a Manusights run, cite the Reference Checker and its method page. If your claim depends on a retraction record or provider dataset, cite that provider directly as well.

The checker output is not a substitute for a publisher notice, the Retraction Watch Database, or a DOI registration record. Link to the primary record when the primary record is the evidence.

Corrections

A wrong classification is a product defect, not a user problem.

Send the DOI, result label, and the primary record that contradicts it to erik@manusights.com. Reports are reviewed against the cited source and corrected in the implementation or documentation as appropriate.
