A study finds that a region or signal differs during a language task. A submission-ready version states the linguistic hypothesis, defines the comparison that tests it, shows the behavioral evidence, documents the analysis and controls, and names the alternative explanation that remains. The advance is the defensible language-brain inference, not the colored activation map.
Common failure patterns to repair
Task label replaces linguistic theory. The paper names a task but never defines the linguistic construct or the competing account it tests. Put the construct, predicted pattern, and limiting condition before the result.
Neural localization becomes mechanism. A region, connectivity estimate, or classifier output is reported as proof of a language process without a design that separates the intended process from attention, memory, difficulty, or motor response. State the inference limit in the result itself.
